Easy DIY Console Project

DIY Console

In the world of DIY home projects, sometimes all it takes is a little creativity and effort to take something worn and give it a brand new look. Over the past few days I’ve been working on this simple yet effective DIY console makeover. Luckily, I had all the DIY tools and materials already on hand! With just a few easy steps I’ll take an old console and give it a fresh new look. So, grab your gloves and paintbrushes – let's get started!

DIY Console Materials

Materials Needed:

1. Old Console

2. Black Gel Stain

3. Gloves

4. Paint Brushes (Big and Small)

5. Antique Gold Rub and Buff for Drawer Knobs

6. Sanding Block

Step 1: Prep Your Workspace

Before diving into the makeover process, ensure you have a clean and well-ventilated workspace. Lay down some a drop cloth to protect your surfaces from any spills or stains. Do some light sanding on any rough imperfections and to give your paint a nice texture to stick to.

Step 2: Apply the Black Gel Stain

Using your bigger paintbrush, apply the black gel stain generously to the surface of the console. Make sure to cover the entire piece evenly. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying the second coat. This will ensure a rich, deep color that covers any imperfections or previous finishes.

Step 3: Glove Up!

Trust us on this one – things are about to get messy! Don’t forget your gloves before proceeding to handle the stain and other materials. This will not only protect your hands but also make cleanup a breeze.

Step 4: Antique Gold Touches

While your stain is drying, it's time to spice up your knobs with antique gold rub and buff. Apply a small amount to a clean small brush and gently paint it onto the drawer knobs. This will create a beautiful, aged look that complements the richness of the black stain.

DIY can be as easy as finding some materials you have laying around or even from another DIY project! Whether you're looking to refresh your space or simply enjoy the satisfaction of a DIY project, this console makeover is so easy. So, when you’re in need of an easy DIY make sure you give this one a try!!
